Martial Arts

Martial arts have played a big part in Hollywood over the years, probably started by Bruce Lee of Enter The Dragon fame, arguably the most famous Martial Arts expert of all time who met his untimely death in 1973 when he was  still only in his very early thirties. Although Bruce Lee died, his legacy certainly did not die with him, and he is still possibly the most famous and talked about Martial Arts expert of our times.

These days Martial Arts or the literal meaning "arts of war" is taught all over the world. The world is a dangerous place and many people find that training in any of the Martial Arts can help to keep them safe if necessary, self defence is a very important lesson to learn. When a small person with a slight frame can learn how to escape from and floor an attacker three times their size with their bare hands, it must make walking through the park a bit less of a risky business.

Benefits Of Martial Arts

So, although knowledge of martial arts can help some people to feel safe, it isn't the only benefit of learning any of these ancient arts. Martial arts training has many benefits for the trainee, physically and also spiritually. Systematic martial arts training can help to:

  • boost strength
  • increase stamina
  • increase flexibility
  • improve movement coordination
  • exercise the whole body
  • learn self control
  • learn correct breathing techniques
  • teach about the importance of a wholesome diet
  • increase determination
  • boost concentration levels

Wow, if it can do all that for you what have I been messing about at, I'll go get my baggy pajamas and sign up to the nearest class right this minute. Now then, do I need Karate, Kung Fu or Choi Kwang Do - I know, I'll see which one has an instructor that looks like Bruce, that should do it.
